The Layla Bag sewing pattern will take you step by step to creating this unique purse. The Layla Bag is the perfect marriage of sophisticated design and function. This bag features a removable shoulder strap and domed cut-out handles; which can be made with or without handle hardware (*see hardware sources below). A zipped interior pocket and fully zipped top closure keep items organized and secure. The rounded sides and clean lines will showcase any fabric you choose to perfection!

The sewing pattern will guide you through stitching up the Layla Bag!

Finished Size:  14 1/2 w x 6 3/4 h (not incl. handles) x 3 1/2″ d

Skill Level:  Intermediate

What’s in the pattern:

–PDF:  26 pages (12 pages of instructions, 12 pages of pattern sheets (2 pages of cutting labels)
Paper:  5 pages of instructions, 1 large pattern sheet* that includes cutting labels
-a thoroughly tested design given the thumbs up by my amazing test team
– links to online tutorials for the trickier bits
– metric and imperial measurements
-quality line drawings and concise, detailed instructions
* Rectangular pattern pieces are measured and cut out based on measurements.

Notions:

–  1 – Zipper – at least 14″(36cm) long – all purpose or size of choice for top closure
–  1 – Zipper – at least 9″(23cm) long – all purpose for interior pocket
–  2 – D-rings – wide enough to fit a 3/4″(2cm) strap
–  2 – Swivel hooks – wide enough to fit a 3/4″(2cm) wide strap
–  1 – 3 1/4 x 12″(8x30cm) piece – Plastic canvas to reinforce bottom (optional)
–  4 – Purse feet (optional)
–  1/4″(6mm) Fusible web tape- double sided – for inserting zipper & handle
–  Fray Check
–  Walking foot (optional)
–  1 set – Oval handle hardware* (optional – see source info below) – exterior :4 5/8 x 2 3/4″ (119x69mm)& interior: 3 3/4 x 1 3/4″(70x44mm)

Fabric & Interfacing:  

–  Main: 1/2 yard* (.5m) – 44″(112cm) wide- for exterior bag and shoulder strap. Suggested: light to heavy weight home decor or quilt weight cotton
–  Contrast/Lining: 5/8 -3/4 yard*(.6-.7m) – 44″(112cm) wide for handles & lining (amount dependent on handle option selected. Suggested: light to medium weight home decor or quilt weight cotton
–  Foam Stabilizer: 3/4 yard (.7m) – 20″(51cm) wide. Suggested: Pellon(r) FlexFoam (FF-77), Soft & Stable from byAnnie(r), or auto headliner
–  Medium-weight Interfacing: 2 yards (1.85m) – 20″(51cm) wide. Suggested: Pellon Soft-Flex SF101
