I have this pattern, and I started it about two and a half years ago. I know that\’s awful, but I am ready to put the piece on in the back, and I am a little confused. Since it has been so long, I only cut out my pattern piece and stiff interfacing. I read somewhere on your blog that there was a minor change in one of the pieces and I\’m wondering if this might be the pattern piece ? I purchased it around 2015 or so. but anyway, shouldn\’t this back piece be lined ?
Thank you for your assistance. Bonita Hausfeld
PS. Do you still the finishing instructions from where I am. ? I had followed this on your class online, but I was already behind when I had to quit. I\’ve had several surgeries, following complications and I\’m just getting back, to a somewhat normal life again.
Hi Bonita,
You are by no means the first person to start a project and not finish right away! I have an entire closet full!
If I am understanding the piece you are talking about (the back panel of the backpack, right?), yes, you do need a lining for it. You should have cut 2 pieces (on the fold) using pattern piece D. One of those pieces is the exterior and one is the lining. The change you referred to was the length of the ruffle (frosting) pieces.
It sounds like you are on the following step in the tutorial: https://www.cozynestdesign.com/cozy-cakes-sew-along-day-5/
I hope that helps, please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you. Sarah
